for sale 的意思是「待售」「供出售」，即「用於出售」。請體會下面的句子：

Car for sale：one careful owner, low mileage. 售車：車主用車仔細，行駛里程數少。

on sale 有兩個意思：
一是表示「出售」，與for sale不同，它表示的是「進入銷售環節」「處於被銷售的狀態」。如：
Tickets are on sale from the booking office. 售票處正在售票。
All tickets go on sale this Friday. 所有票在本星期五開始銷售。
