than用作關係代詞：詞典例句
定語從句中的關係詞有who/whom, which/that, whose, when/where/why, as，這是常見的，其中that在一些情況下可以相當於when/where/why，同時還有than與but。

主語：more than is necessary ; as happened
than和as在從句中可以替代主語（很像關係代詞）。
He worries more than is necessary.
他擔心過度。（不能說：…more than it/what is necessary.）
There were a lot of people at the exhibition—more than came last year.
展覽會上有許多人——比去年來的人要多。（不能說：…more than they came last year.）
than還可以充當賓語和補語。
They sent more vegetables than I had ordered.
他們送來的蔬菜比我訂的多。（不能說：…than I had ordered them.）
She was more frightened than I was. 她比我還害怕。（不能說：…more I was it.）
在這種情況下，有些英語方言在than後面用what。
