Harry Hippo awoke early one morning.
一天清晨，河馬哈里很早就醒來了。
「OWWWW!」 he moaned.
「哎喲喲喲喲喲！」他發出呻吟。
「I have a horrible, terrible toothache.」
「我的牙實在是太疼了。」
Harry moaned and groaned.
哈里唉聲嘆氣，呻吟不止。
He moaned and groaned so loudly he woke up everyone.

他呻吟聲實在是太大了，所有人都醒了過來。
「What is wrong?」 they asked.
「出什麼事啦？」大家問道。
「Why is Harry moaning and groaning so loudly?」
「為什麼哈里呻吟的那麼大聲？」
「Harry has toothache,」 said his wife, Harriet.「
哈里牙疼的厲害，」哈里的妻子,哈里特說道。
「What shall we do?」 asked Polly the parrot.
「我們該怎麼做？」鸚鵡波莉問道。
「We will have to pull out the tooth,」 said Harriet.
「我們必須把那顆牙拔出來，」哈里特說。

「But who will pull it out?」 asked Polly.
「但是誰來拔呢？」波莉又問。
「I will,」 said Milly the gorilla.
「讓我來吧，」大猩猩米莉舉手。
「But how will you pull it out?」 asked Ziggy the lion.
「但是你要怎麼拔呢？」獅子齊格問道。
Milly went off to find a vine.
米莉找來了一根藤蔓。
She tied the vine to Harry』s tooth, and she pulled on the vine.
她將藤蔓綁在哈里的壞牙上，然後她用力往外拉扯。
She pulled and pulled, but the tooth did not come out.
她又拉又扯，可是牙齒紋絲不動。
「Let me help,」 said Ziggy.
「我來幫你，」齊格提議。
So Ziggy and Milly pulled, but the tooth did not come out.
齊格和米莉用力地拉扯，可是牙齒還是沒有被拔出來。
「What will we do now?」 asked Polly.
「我們現在該怎麼辦呢？」波莉問道。
「I have an idea,」 said Milly.
「我有辦法啦，」米莉說。
They took Harry to a cliff and tie the vine to a big rock.
大家把哈裡帶到懸崖邊，將一塊大石頭綁在了藤蔓另一端。
They pushed the rock over the cliff.
他們把岩石推下懸崖。
But Harry』s tooth did not come out.
但是還是沒有將哈里的牙齒拔出來。
「Now what？」asked Ziggy.
「現在可如何是好啊？」齊格問。
「I have a better idea,」 said Polly, and she flew off.「
我有一個更好的主意，」波莉說完急忙飛走了。
Harry moaned and groaned even louder.
哈里因為疼痛呻吟地更加大聲了。
Later, Polly came back with Ella the elephant.
不一會兒，波莉帶著大象艾拉一塊回來了。
「Ella will help us pull Harry』s tooth,」 said Polly.
「艾拉是來幫我們給哈里拔牙的，」波莉說道。
They tied the vine to Ella.於是他們把藤蔓綁在艾拉鼻子上。
She pulled and pulled, but still the tooth did not come out.
她用力拉呀扯呀，可是牙齒還是拔不出來。
Then out of the jungle crept a mouse.
這時，叢林里竄出來一隻小老鼠。
Ella saw the mouse and took off running very fast.
艾拉突然瞄見了老鼠，嚇得趕緊朝外跑。
Out came Harry』s tooth.
這不，哈里的牙齒終於拔下來了。
Harry stopped moaning and groaning.
哈里終於不用唉聲嘆氣。
Once again the jungle was quiet.
叢林又恢復了以往的平靜。
Everyone was happy, especially Harry.
每個人都非常開心，當然啦，哈里就更不用說啦。
